Mass confusion in the lost and found world

Picture
My biggest concern as a lost and found recovery organization is the number of lost and found sites on the internet and on Facebook covering the same area but not communicating with one another or sharing listings. Add to that the number of new sites popping up ever day and you have a recipe for mass chaos!
Equally as concerning is the number of sites created to help in a specific area, only to be abandoned by their creator but not removed from the internet or from Facebook alltogether. Many pet owners and finders will find these sites and post only there thinking they are on the only site for a specific area and these post will fall through the cracks and never reach a larger audience. All of this causes mass confusion and causes lost and found listings to pass each other like two ships in the night, never quite connecting. This alone can prevent hundreds if not thousands of lost pets from getting home to their family.
Imagine what we could accomplish if we were ALL working together and sharing the same listings!!! That is the idea behind Lost Dogs of America and Helping Lost Pets.
From our parent site, Lost Dogs of America:
"Six years ago, when we started our first two sites, Lost Dogs of Wisconsin and Lost Dogs Illinois, there were only a few Facebook pages for lost pets. Good ideas spread and now there are hundreds, and possibly thousands of Facebook pages.
Is this a good thing or not? It can be IF the regional or neighborhood pages maintain and update the pages. They should be promoting the use of a centralized database (we recommend www.helpinglostpets.com)."
Wise words from our parent site! To read more of the article, please click here: http://lostdogsofamerica.org/thinking-of-starting-a-lost-d…/
Lost Dogs Georgia believes strongly in a centralized database for lost and found pets so that we can remove the question of WHERE a lost or found pet will be posted therefore improving a pets chances of getting home. In Georgia, helpinglostpets.com is widely used and supported by many local animal control units and veterinary clinics and is helping more and more missing pets get back home! Imagine how many lives could be saved in our overcrowded Georgia shelters if we could simply get more lost pets home!!!
Read my blog below title to learn more about helpinglostpets.com and why I believe it is THE answer we've all been looking for.
